WHO THE HELL IS ANGIE ANDERSON?
I'm a child of the 70s. I grew up on an acreage in rural Alberta. As a teenager I used to buy every issue of Vogue, Flare & Cosmopolitan that I could afford. I'd listen to records & spend hours flipping through the pages, excited to try out the new fragrance samples, taking in the fashion, the models, the colors, the lighting, the angles. I even loved the advertisements. The Guess campaigns from the 80’s were some of my favorites.

My walls were plastered with pages from the magazines. It was my 1st exposure to many of the photographers that I love today, including Annie Leibovitz, Herb Ritts & Ellen Von Unwerth. The magazines served as an escape into the world of beauty, fashion, travel, glamour & photography. Something that seemed like a different world from the small town of Sundre. Looking back, it played a big roll in shaping who I am.
When I’m not taking photos or editing, you can find me drinking black coffee until it’s time to drink wine, rocking out to my favorite bands which currently include The Delegators, The Darkness, Amyl & The Sniffers and Mad Bomber Society (and not just because my husband Smooth plays the bass), having dance parties with my kids, camping – in an actual tent, or cooking up a storm.
Sometimes it feels as though I’ve always had a camera in my hand. Point & shoot film cameras when I was 8, then playing with my Dad’s SLR when I was 13. I studied Criminology for 2 years before deciding that I’d rather travel the world. I moved to Calgary & enrolled in SAIT to become a travel consultant. I worked in a photo lab during all of those years & being able to develop my own photos allowed me to really play with light. Over the next 14 years, I travelled to 30 countries and captured most of them using a film camera. I've hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, boated down the Nile & Amazon Rivers, cruised around the Galapagos Islands (twice), walked through the jungles in Borneo to stay in a Headhunters lodge and did a camel trek in the Sahara Desert.

As a photographer, I've won several Community Votes Calgary, AIBP (Association of International Boudoir Photographers) & Portrait Masters Awards.
You may have seen my photos on the STAND Against Sexual Assault billboards and posters.
In 2024 I launched BRAZEN: A Boudoir Magazine. I put my heart & soul into BRAZEN. It took on a life of its’ own during a time that has been incredibly hard behind the scenes. I don’t talk about myself often, but over the last few years, my husband was diagnosed with leukemia & my daughter had been struggling with depression. Each photo session has been so much more than just a photo shoot for me; it’s been a distraction & an escape. Ironically, I sometimes feel completely helpless in my personal life but lifting women up gives me purpose. Boudoir photography defines who I am.
My work has been published internationally in Boudoir Inspiration, Boudoir Culture, Philosophie Boudoir, Erotiq (Australia), Elegant Magazine, Edith, Vigour, X-Pressions & Integrity Magazines. My music photography has been published in various local newspapers as well as Hustler Canada (yes, Hustler!).
I’m often asked why I chose Boudoir and when I really peeled back the layers, I realised that it’s my way of taking sexy back. I was molested as a child & sexually assaulted as a young adult. I grew up in a house where sex was a bad word and my early experiences drove that home. It took a lot of personal growth to realise that pleasure is a gift. Boudoir photography allows me to hold space for women to embrace their sensuality without guilt, shame or judgement. I try to meet my clients where they are in their journey with their bodies and sexuality. I also strive to capture all of the different emotive states that we don’t get to see in the mirror: joy, confidence, coy flirtation, desire, longing & vulnerability. It’s these things that our family & friends love. By doing so, I hope to flip the narrative that women tell themselves they are not worthy. The female form is beautiful (at all ages & stages).
I love to be creative. Contact me today to book your dream photo session!
